Welcome to our company. Eston Salon Spa is a household name in Memphis. We love what we do, and we love people. Our goal for you is success. We realize without you, we can only achieve minimum business. We want a win-win situation for both. We've been around for many years. Our business strategy is simple, work smarter....teamwork and positive attitudes lead to success for all. We are not a big salon, we are a small family owned business. We are not a big corporation, so keep that in mind. Make your expectations realistic for working for a small business.

Our goal is to make a comfortable living, and keep our costs at a minimum. We believe in quality, but not at a huge expense. Everyone on our team is expected to pitch in and take care of each other. We expect hard work, effective use of time, and comittment.

Our management style is relaxed, we will cheer you on and expect mutual trust and respect for us as owners. We will be the best bosses you've ever had. Remember, The cost of running a business is high. Rent, utilities, taxes, phones, computers, a nice environment, quality products like AVEDA, all cost money. After paying all the expenses, the profit margin is tiny. eston salon spa offers a great place and the potential for everyone to make a good living and have fun doing it.

We have a few simple rules: Work your committed schedule, pay for your personal use of salon chemicals, don't take excessive time off, keep the salon spa clean and neat, talk a positive talk to your client and co-workers, allow for mistakes, be flexible, network yourself to grow your client list, participate in education and meetings, be a team player, and enjoy your job.




Chemical Fees, Family Policy, Costs
From our beginning in 1989, we've charged chemical fees. fees are a major part of our budget. We always do our best to keep fees as low as possible, and in many cases we split the costs to keep fees low. It is very important that you charge each client. Even family members need to pay the chemical fees and in some cases a service fee. Remember, rent is not free, utilities are not free, and supplies are not free. We spend a lot of money for overhead, so everyone must pay toward these costs, everyone!

We enforce paying chemical fees and will automatically deduct fees that we find that are not paid. Any service that you do for yourself or family member requires a minumum $10 chemical fee.

Family only. Our friends policy has changed and, Immediate first family members only, mom-dad-brother-sister. There have been time when the "friends policy" took in every person that you know, we cannot continue to do this and pay the overhead.
(Absolutely no former employees are allowed free salon spa services. The service policy for immediate employees is a benefit that stops when the employee no longer works for the company)

Chemical fees are as follows: $10 for single color services, $10 for spa services, $2 for smaller spa services and manicures.

Family members should be done on slow days and after busy peak hours. Busy days should be reserved for paying customers.

You do have the option to purchase AVEDA chemicals directly and have your own personal use chemicals, Please see Angela or Mike for personal orders.

Coffee and Hospitality fees: Every staff member pays a $2 per week fee to help pay for coffee and related supples. This fee helps pay for our customers enjoyment. (candy & softdrinks & bottled water is not a part of this fee and must be purchased at 50 cents to $1 an item.)


Commissions & Pay Policys
We offer a sliding commission scale from 50% 55% & 60% minus chemical fees of $8 to $10 dollars. This sliding scale rewards everyone automatically when they achieve higher sales. We also offer a flat 10% retail sales commission on non-discounted sales.
From time to time, we have special client offers, and those offers may effect your total commissionalbe sales, in return, you will have the chance to win a new client for life!

Our benefits are reduced pricing on AVEDA products, free or reduced cost for salon spa services, flexible schedules, and flexible time off. (The maximum time off is 2 weeks vacation per year, maximum days off is once a month.) We have an optional medical insurance plan available through Blue Cross through our insurance group at Tennessee Farm Bureau, you can receive reduced rates, however, we offer no participation, the cost is 100% to qualified employees.

Only full time employees qualify for employee status for payroll taxes. Part time and temporary employees are paid on 1099 misc income status, unless othewise agreed to.
tips are the responsibility of each employee, as the salon spa no longer manages the tips that your receive by clients. Tips may be handled as 1099 misc income. (consult your personal accountant to help you with managing your income and financial planning-you are allowed to write off certain expenses, education, medical, and other items, even as an employee)


Education with AVEDA & ESS
AVEDA sometimes provides ESS with coop education dollars. Management will determine when education can be made available at reduced costs for classes and shows. Employees are expected to attend any classes that are free.

AVEDA offers training and education in the AVEDA store. A successful stylist and spa member will be involved in any events AVEDA offers.

ESS partipates in a variety of local events from Womens shows, Bridal shows and other community events. These have proved highly successful in client building, so take advantage of this incredible way to grow your career.

AVEDA training DVD's and Education manuals are available to loan out, These must be returned or subject to reimbursement back to ESS.


Business Cards and Postcards
ESS offers your first box of business cards for free. All additional boxes are available at our cost of $30 to $60 depending on the quantity and will be deducted from payroll as you order. We order ONLINE from a really low cost internet printer that offers THE BEST in quality. Mike will work with you on any personal postcard offers that you may want to make. A box of 1000 postcards can be ordered for about $100, which you can use for a year or longer for personal client building. In some cases ESS will pay for postage, see Mike for this option. ESS reserves the right to approve all art to ensure that we maintain consistentcy for all of our advertising. Do not order any cards, postcards, etc without prior approval.


ESS and Personal Equipment -Accessories
Please have all items approved by Mike or Janice. Items such as smocks, cutting capes, salon equipment, decorations, all must be approved by management. We have a certain look that we want to maintain in the facility. Don't go spend money on things that we may ask you to take out of the salon spa. Only certain colors, materials, equipment will be considered, so ask first!

Care of property. Please do not leave personal items in the salon spa. When the salon spa is cleaned, personal items may be at risk of damage or mystery dissappearances. Expense shears, etc are not the responsibility of ESS. also, employees will be held responsible to damages to the salon spa. (if your break it, you buy it)
